Doms of Dark Haven 2 Western Night Cherise Sinclair Sierra Cartwright Belinda McBride 9781611189193 Books

Three women. One night. Four Doms to rope them up, ride them hard, and brand their hearts. It's Western Night at Dark Haven.
A GOOD sub WOULD by Sierra Cartwright
Shelby, a wanna-be sub, hasn't found a Dom strong enough to push past her need to be in control. Her experiences as a sub have been yawn-inducing. She's fantasized plenty, though, about Trevor Lawton, one of Dark Haven's legendary, mouthwateringly firm Doms.
As the stakes get higher at the charity poker match, Dom Trevor Lawton is fascinated by the woman kneeling across the table from him. Problem is, she's not a good sub. Oh, she tries, and she's lovely. But she's not very good at following orders. The woman needs a firm, unyielding hand...his.
HUNTING HOLLY by Belinda McBride
When Holly left the Truckee pack, she left her family, her safety, and the two men she loved. Now she's in San Francisco training as a Domme at Dark Haven. She thinks she's found herself, but tonight, Tex and Hunter have found her. And they are not happy with their little wolf. She's been keeping secrets from them. Tonight, someone's gonna beg.
Additional Publisher's Warning This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable anal play/intercourse, caning, sensory deprivation.
WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE by Cherise Sinclair
Real Doms terrify her, so Summer plays with lightweights only. And only in the safety of her club, Dark Haven. But on Western Night, the tough cop who wins her in a sub-roping game is as powerful as they come.
Virgil's first taste of BDSM was disturbingly enticing. Hoping to burn out his interest, he visits an infamous San Francisco club, where he wins himself the prettiest little sub he's ever seen. He's in a quandary. A man shouldn't render a woman helpless, let alone spank her ass. But the nervous little submissive clearly loves being in his ropes. Her need to be controlled is as powerful as his need to control. So he indulges himself, and her.
That one night could be the beginning, but instead it's the end. She won't play outside the club and he lives too far to come play. He'll just have to find a way to forget her...or get her in his ropes to stay.
Publisher's Note All of the stories within this anthology contain explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable strong BDSM theme and elements (including/not limited to bondage and spanking).

I have read stories/novellas before that I didn't like, couldn't finish, and have never written a negative review until now. But, please, $7.07 for this! Save your money.I bought this because I've enjoyed Cherise Sinclair's stories before. Her's was the only one in this anthology worth reading in my opinion. And her longer titles, full length books, cost less than this, I bought it because I thought the other writers would be on a par with her. I hadn't read any of their writing before.
Met Her Match: Couldn't stand the so called hero who acts like a spoiled, whiny child. His intro in the story left me wondering what the heck was happening. He turns the heroine (not) down when she approaches him and then goes berserk when she seeks out another man to meet her needs. Childish. Didn't like either of them and couldn't care less.
Educating Evangeline: The Hero here won't help the damsel in distress - she's being hunted - unless she agrees to submit to him. Some hero! Even one of his own people tell him he could help her without making her be his submissive for the evening. His response was, to paraphrase, that he thought she might be his mate. Pu-leese! And then after the build up to the people that are hunting her and the hunt, she is saved by a character that appears out of nowhere for all of two pages. I think this is in the neighborhood of 'Divine Intervention".
Sorry, I hate to slam anyone's efforts but I felt this deserved it. Maybe the other 2 writer's- Cartwright and McBride- other works are better but I won't spend any money to find out.

Doms of Dark Haven 2 Western Night Cherise Sinclair Sierra Cartwright Belinda McBride 9781611189193 Books Reviews
Cherise Sinclair's story get 4 1/2 stars, the other 2 stories get 3 stars.
I admit I only purchased this book because I needed another Cherise Sinclair fix. I am addicted to her Doms from Club Shadowlands and since I'm caught up on that series, I was on the hunt for a new Dom to love. I know it's only a short story but it's better than nothing and Ms. Sinclair knows how to write great stories.
All three stories in this anthology occur on the same night at Dark Haven during a Victorian era themed night.
It may have been third in the book (saving the best for last?) but I'm getting right to my main attraction.
Simon Says Mine by Cherise Sinclair
While Dark Haven is no Club Shadowlands (*cries*) there were many similarities. Master Simon has all the same qualities as the Doms at Shadowlands.
I immediately liked Rona. Older, mature, recently divorced, grown kids, a nurse and looking to cross a few items off her to-do list. And like a lot of Sinclair's heroine's, she doesn't think she's young enough, thin enough or pretty enough. Thankfully Sinclair's Doms don't seem to mind at all and in fact prefer this type of woman...like most of us.
A few quick impressions of Master Simon from Rona's point of view (just to get you in the mood)
"Of course he's dangerous - he has a flogger, and he knows how to use it".
God, he was so gorgeous, like a blade, but not a bland kitchen knife - more like a medieval dagger. Elegant and deadly, but the look in his eyes was so caring. Almost loving.
Cue the shivers and chills!
Every time I read one of these books, Sinclair introduces a new aspect of this lifestyle she hasn't used before. I feel like I'm getting an education right along with the heroine.
Suctions cups? WTF? Holy Moly...do these things really go on? I felt like the suctions cups should have come with a warning Objects may appear larger than they actually are...only in this case - THEY grew/became/stayed larger - ohhhhhh my!
Things move fast in a short story. Simon is another seemingly perfect, understanding, caring, totally in tune Dom who's number 1 priority is his sub. I liked that while Rona expressed an interest in the lifestyle - she wasn't really looking to "tie" herself to one man. Simon took all her misgivings and through them right out the window. SMOKIN' HOT! 4 ½ Starts
Met Her Match Sierra Cartwright
How can 2 operatives work together and have to trust each other and have a Dom/S relationship?
Torin Carter didn't want to cross the bounds with his partner Mia Araceli but she was determined to force his hand (or another male appendage) so when he's forced to stake his claim on Mira at Dark Haven and publicly punish her - it changes the rules in their relationship.
Mira likes Torin`s "heavy hand". She's been after him for awhile to show her the Dom/s ropes. Showing up nekkid on his bed with his belt in her mouth - well if that isn't a clear message...??
I liked the dynamic between Torin/Mira and was wondering how they would be able to handle the Dom/s relationship and then transition to an equal footing on a partnership - work relationship.
Needless to say they worked things out to everyone's satisfaction.
Another hot short story 3 stars
The final story Educating Evangeline was my least favorite of the three.
Evangeline's a lone wolf who needs the help of alpha Werewolf Dom Harte Sommers and his pack when she's being hunted and stumbles into Dark Haven one night . She agrees to his terms and conditions and agrees to submit and learn from Harte in exchange for his protection.
This story was ok but just didn't pack the punch when compared to the "master" Sinclair.
3 Stars
I'm writing the same review for Master Series (Master of the Mountain, Master of the Abyss, Dark Haven 1 and 2, regarding Rona, Summer, and Shelby only and My Liege). And I think also the Dom Dungeon and Lean on Me (from Shadowland Series).
If you haven't read these, please read them. If you've read some of the other Shadowland books and didn't like them because of their cavalier attitude towards their subs (except for Lean on Me, Cullen's story), don't let that stop you from reading these.
It shows how diverse Ms Sinclair is. I never would have guessed they were written by the same author.
In the above mentioned books, the Doms cherish their subs. They are precious to them. They are well protected and safe from a Dom's perverted sense of ownership. Make no mistake, these aren't sissified men. These are Alpha Doms all the way. The only time that you see a Dom allow anyone to touch his Sub or expose his sub is always to assist in healing. A lot of the subs in these series have been abused/harmed or have body-image issues due to past abuse). The only other time a sub was exposed and was allowed to be touched (via a paddle or control device) was because of betrayal that required the offending parties take place in the punishment. Her Dom forgave her but they both know only allowing this will allow forgiveness. But her Dom stays with her and stops anyone who get too rough or if she says Yellow. It wasn't meant to shame her. It was meant to absolve her. Once the Dom in each of these staked his claim, as it were, no one but him touched the sub.
Why don't I think the Shadowland series Doms feel the same way
Book 1 There is no overt treatment to suggest Jessica is cherished or precious to Zachary. And when she was punished she was terrified and it was implied that he would turn her over for Doms public use. Hardly the behavior of a Dom who cherishes, protects, loves and is humbled by the trust their sub had in them.
Book 2 Words don't describe how despicable Dan is. The sub was taking classes. He expected her to from shy and reserved school teacher to sub-slut in less than 9 hours (3 nights, appr 3 hrs each night). Actually after 3 hours. He would constantly ensure she knew that once the 3 nights were over he wanted nothing to do with her. He actually said it after the first night, but then someone played with his "pathetic" toy and so he wanted her back. He degraded her, humiliated her, subjected her to disgusting and abusive behavior. All by telling her that she wanted it because her body was responding. He was supposed to be a cop. How can a cop not know that rape and child molest victims sometimes never get over the shame of their bodies responding? Kari fell head over heels in love with him, so she took his behavior even though many times she asked herself why she was setting herself up to be used and then rejected by him again. She never used her safe word because then he would go away and he was very clear she only had these 3 nights with him. He never told her he loved her or apologized for his behavior. He said she was "his". His woman. His sub. He body to play with regardless of what she wanted. Sorry - I'm a little sensitive about this one. His repeated despicable treatment was basically asserting his power over her by symbolically peeing on her. I could probably have overcome it, if his behavior with her ever changed, but it didn't and by Book 4 when I realized he would have another life to destroy, I just couldn't go on with the series. Again, hardly the behavior of a Dom who cherishes, protects, loves and is humbled by the trust their sub had in them.
Book 3 Nolan was worse than Zachary but not as bad as Dan. The pool party was disgusting. Even til the end he would make her uncomfortable by exposing her breasts (and scars) and run ice all over her nipples to get a response in order to show a visiting Dom that she was his to play with. A collar could or just presence could have been used and she could have kept her dignity. Instead he basically marked his territory by symbolically peeing on her. So while his treatment of Beth wasn't as despicable as Dan's...it really wasn't that much better. He might have said he loved her but I'm not sure. Once again, hardly the behavior of a Dom who cherishes, protects, loves and is humbled by the trust their sub had in them.
Book 4 Cullen's story. A definite read. Maybe he'll move to CA? Get it! His story is wonderful. There is a scene in Nolan's story that concerns a "play party" where basically swapping occurs. *And who are the subs? A masochist that wants whipped and two most image-damaged subs. Why wouldn't they participate when they are used to degrading behavior being foisted on them??? So while Cullen is there, I am confident he never would have subjected Andrea to that treatment. His treatment of Andrea clearly shows he cherishes, protects, loves and is humbled by the trust his sub had in him.
Book 5 & 6 Never read. See Book 2.
I'm sure there are readers that will appreciate the Shadowland series and see the Doms treatment of their subs as acceptable. But after being a victim of an abusive and bullying "Dom", the treatment of Kari and Beth hit too close to home. They along with my first Dom said they/he pushing me out of my comfort zone. That isn't true. They just wanted a reason to abuse and humiliate and called it helping them/me. I've never entered another Dom/sub relationship because they are far more Dan and Nolan and possible Zachary's out there, then Cullen, Virgil, and Xavier's out there. And I'm not willing to take that risk again.
I have read stories/novellas before that I didn't like, couldn't finish, and have never written a negative review until now. But, please, $7.07 for this! Save your money.
